Bubbling Over

Later, they'll hang her out to dry

It turns out that showering with a friend isn’t the only way to conserve water. This beautiful bumpkin figured out that you can also conserve by decreasing the size of your bathtub — or, in this case, temporarily repurposing a washtub. Later, she’ll throw in a washboard and get this week’s laundry out of the way. A word to the wise, ladies: getting out of this thing might put you off balance, so be sure to follow this example and put down a rug first, for traction.

“Bubbling Over” is an oil on canvas by Gil Elvgren, painted in 1951. Sent to me from a cowgirl in Dallas, Texas, this postcard of a uniquely American work of art was printed in Koln, Germany.

I think her name is peaches. Cute card – she’s really enjoying that bath. Thanks for the exiting advice. I’ll keep that in mind. I was planning on bathing in a bundt pan later today.
