Postcard Friendship Friday (PFF)“This depiction of Brittania — the symbol of British strength and beauty — is meant to be Queen Victoria, who ruled England longer than any other sovereign and survived seven assassination attempts.” Well of course they made assassination attempts: she kept sitting on Shropshire and kneeling on Nottingham!

Thanks to Jim for sharing this postcard.

  1. Rule Britannia. The empire on which the sun never sets. God save the Queen. And all that stuff!

  2. She got everywhere, Victoria, even head-butting Scotland and dipping her toes into the sea in Kent. We have recently been house-hunting in Kent, and without fail whenever we saw a property of a certain age, we were told, “It was built for Queen Victoria, you know”. She must have had more properties than days in her very long life.

  5. and what is that in her mouth! It looks like the English Queenie is smoking a Gauloises ciggy! Shame on her for smoking French tobacco!
