Turkish Woman, 1909

Like a kiss through a veil

Like a kiss through a veil. This is a modern reproduction of a vintage postcard; it comes from Levant Koleksiyon, a little art and framing shop in the Beyoğlu section of Istanbul, Turkey. Though I have several cards from Turkey that I purchased myself, this is not one of them; it was sent over by my friend İmren.

In Turkey, today is Republic Day (Cumhuriyet Bayrami), commemorating the founding of the Turkish Republic in 1923.
