One of Ommer’s “Black Ladies”

Posted on 14 December 2009 by Chris Overstreet

Good thing she's holding that towel

A lot of Uwe Ommer‘s work is decidedly odd — nude women wearing caricature masks of American politicians, for example (I mean, really, Bill Clinton with breasts is disturbing on so many levels) — but I like the composition of this photo very much. He focuses on the obvious curve of the breast, with the more subtle curve of the waist leading to the unseen curve of the hips.

Among his other works, Ommer has published two volumes entitled Black Ladies, the theme of which should be obvious. According to the postcard (a recent arrival, from Axel in Germany), this image was captured in 1995, in Paris.
