Rukai Girl

"The smile of diverse cultures"

“The smile of diverse cultures.” From Taipei comes this postcard of a girl wearing a traditional headdress of the Rukai people, one of fourteen aboriginal tribes on Taiwan. The Rukai have their own language, culture and calendar, living apart from the governing Republic of China. They are the fifth-largest tribal group there, with a population of about 12,000.
