The Silver Turban

Dorothy Wilding (1893-1976) was known primarily as a society photographer in her native England, where she photographed playwrights, actors, and other luminaries. If you’ve ever seen a British stamp featuring a profile of Queen Elizabeth II, then you’ve seen her work.  (Odd chain of events to create the image: Wilding photographs the Queen; a sculpture is made from the photo; Wilding photographs the sculpture.)  But she was also known for pictorial art nudes, like this one.

I’d seen this image before, but did not have the postcard; Ezra was kind enough to select it for me, and it arrived today from Kansas City.

Got your Richard Doyle “The Fairy Tree” card in the mail today 🙂 It has, yet again, been published to my blog! And, in return, I’m trying to find another one to send you 😉

    Hope you’re doing well!
