In case you’re getting blind and senile like me, pictured (from top left) are Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch), Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family), Marion Ross (Happy Days), June Lockhart (Lost in Space), Barbara Billingsley (Leave It to Beaver), Jane Wyatt (Father Knows Best), and Esther Rolle (Good Times).

GirlZoot says that “they have got a passel of kids between them, so you know these women… have something going on!!!” I’m surprised they had time to make dinner.
How does this happen? First, it’s a given that this young lady wasn’t wearing a string bikini, so the bottoms had to come down around her ankles. Even if she hadn’t noticed them falling, wouldn’t she have tripped over them? Wouldn’t they have gotten caught up in those shoes? And who wears shoes like that to the beach, anyway?

Nevertheless, I can relate, as I’m sure you can, with being caught up in new postcards, to the exclusion of everything else.

This timeless bit of humor is actually dated, with a copyright stamp showing 1970. On the back it has an aftermarket stamp reading “Greetings from Perryopolis, PA”, which is where my Aunt Brenda bought it in 1974 or ‘75. We travelled with her parents (my grandparents) out to western Pennsylvania during several summers when I was growing up, to see relatives.

Brenda is the family Keeper of the Postcards who preceded me; you can see some of her other postcards at Wild Postcards.

Crikey! I found this postcard from Thea in my mailbox a few days ago but wanted to share it with the Postcard Friendship Friday crowd. This is quite the lady: bleached hair, butterfly tattoo over the heart, the color-coordinated, overzealous eye-shadow, and a vocabulary that would peel paint. I think I’m in love.

Non-Aussies should incorporate these phrases into their day-to-day speech as soon as possible. Thea reminds us to “say all these with your best Paul Hogan accent.”

At first I thought that the artist might have been employing sarcasm with this caption. But then I said to myself, “Self, that just can’t be. After all, what woman doesn’t live to wait on her man hand and foot?” It was then that I noticed that her eyes aren’t quite looking at his. I wonder if Beefcake here made it out of that bathroom without needing a second shower.

How about that groovy green tile? I think that’s the color that Sears Roebuck used to call “avocado”. I’ll just bet that they have a matching refrigerator.

This postcard is from Anne Taintor’s collection of 30 postcards entitled Another Day in Paradise. I’ve sent out quite a few of the others, but I’m keeping this one for myself.

My grandmother used to hang out clothes to dry in the wintertime, but never quite got results like this. (She got a clothes dryer in the late 1970s, as I recall; it was a big event.) I would hate to have to rely on these long johns for warmth — I’d have to warm them up before they could warm up me!

This 1904 photograph is by the Byron Company, which was a commercial photography firm operating in New York City from 1892 until the start of World War II. Most of the Byron Collection photos are documentary in nature, but it looks to me as though a little humor crept in, at least in this case. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the man in this picture is a woman with a false mustache.

Kris was kind enough to send this postcard to help inaugurate Girls Go Postal. He asks, “I wonder what all those gadgets on the wall are used for?” Those torture implements combined with the bather’s happy expression put me in mind of the Monty Python “Spanish Inquisition” sketch.
