Barbara was kind enough to send greetings from the German coast of the North Sea. At those latitudes, I have to wonder how cold the water is — and how much I would care. Winter’s coming, folks; here’s hoping this helps you to stay warm.

Dea in Indonesia wonders if these girls are beautiful enough to join my collection. Not only are they stunning, but they are engaged in a most important daily ritual: the preparation of offerings to their Hindu gods. They wear traditional dress, and some of the ceremonies can be quite long and elaborate. Thanks, Dea, for this beautiful image.

Coincidentally, I received another postcard from Indonesia today, also featuring three hotties. Well, OK, volcanoes.
This terrific card showed up in today’s mail, sent in by Samantha, an American sailor, and postmarked Reno, Nevada. (Hey, it’s not your father’s Navy.) It’s a reproduction of an Italian maxicard commemorating the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, California. I love it!
Sheri in sunny South Florida thought I would enjoy seeing these lovely ladies, and I felt sure that you would as well. The English description on the card reads simply, “Sawasdee, Thai Courtesy for welcome.” There’s an accompanying description in Chinese which is much longer. Sadly, it appears that the Postal Service was a little rough on these two.

TessyT in Queensland sends along this beach-going bronzed individual. The strange thing about it is that the model didn’t start out in a bikini; it was added to the photo later. Is is really that difficult in Australia to convince women to be photographed in a bikini instead of in the nude? If so, how much is plane fare to Australia? Or did the publisher of this card, Sidney Hughes of Brisbane, blow his royalty budget on the nude shot, then decided he needed a PG version?

Might as well jump! Doulton passed along this souvenir of her travels in South Korea. “Neolttwigi is the most active (game) conducted by big children early in January. People lay a two- or three-meters long, thick wooden board across… a sheaf of straw. When one jumps and comes down, the other bends her knees with her heels raised on (the) very end of the board. The sight of lively girls clad in beautiful Korean clothes playing it gaily by fluttering the hem of their skirts in the breeze is really beautiful.”

Doulton says that people in traditional or even Medieval dress, enacting traditional customs, are a frequent sight in South Korea. I almost missed the gentleman in the back; he’s clothed as a “Confucian Scholar.”

This must be why the Marines went to the shores of Tripoli. Omran contacted me from Tripoli with an offer to swap a postcard. Not having any postcards from Libya, I was glad to accept. Next thing I know, five postcards show up in my mailbox! Looks like a good start to my Libya file. While they are all interesting, this one, alas, is the only one featuring a woman.

Not having met any Libyan women myself (so far as I know, and I exclude American women of Libyan descent), I googled the phrase “Libyan women” — at which point Google suggested I search for “hot Libyan women” and “beautiful Libyan women.” Most of the sites under those categories turned out to be mail-order bride sites. Could there really be a high demand outside of Libya for Libyan wives?

Friend Kris shares his thoughts on two Florida beauties: one bronze, another tending toward alabaster.

I hesitated just a little before posting these cards from Kris, as they seem at first glance to be a little more objectifying than my normal fare — but they do meet the criteria of girls who go postal and, despite first glances, Kris’s commentary finds the beauty within:

“It is interesting to note that often the face of ‘the beautiful woman’ in myth and fairy tales (was) left unseen…. Feminists tend to think it was a patriarchal conspiracy to depict women as objects but, like the prohibition against God’s graven image, I think it can be argued that no man or woman has ever captured the full picture of any truly beautiful woman. Nothing against trying…. In the attempt we perhaps get closer or at least come to know our weaknesses.”

Kris continues: “This is definitely a modern Aphrodite fresh from the clamshell — though its possible she could be one of the Sirens seen in the Odyssey. Either way, I think she and Bronzy are two of the immortals.”
