Arriving in my mailbox this very day is this brief missive from the Missive Maven herself; it’s a postcard reproduction of a  piece entitled Beyond the Boughs by Elizabeth Opalenik. (Bonus: the Maven’s personal Zazzle stamp featuring Magic the cat, who is clearly too stoned to be able to figure out how to retrieve that catnip carrot.)

While I don’t think this was sent specifically in celebration of Halloween, it strikes me that Ms. Opalenik’s model is ready to celebrate Samhain. No doubt that, if she’s not careful, she’ll become a part of the fall harvest.
